Helen has a rather large experience in the field of arts administration. Already in 1998 she single-handedly produced a fund-raising arts festival in Las Rozas, her home town. During her time at Royal Holloway, she was appointed publicity officer for the Chapel Choir and the Music Society, and was President of the Savoy Opera Society. During her time as president of this society, she also directed The Gondoliers and was Artistic Director for Iolanthe. She was also involved with the German and Drama societies, and was music director for several plays, including O. von Horváths Himmelwärts and Shakespeare’s Henry VIII. She was also International students’ representative in the Music Department.
In Belgium, she was the director’s assistant (to Ronny Lauwers and Sigrid T’Hoofd) during several opera projects. She was also an Ambassador of La Monnaie at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel between 2004 and 2007. She now dedicates her administrative talents to the administration of the Brussels Chamber Choir.
Helen is also a pianist. She obtained her Título de profesor de piano in Madrid in 1999. She has taught piano and she was the accompanist of the Coro Villa de Las Rozas for two years, and now uses her piano skills for accompanying her singing students.
Helen's main hobby, alongside cinema and film, is cooking. Her specialities are paella, tortilla de patata and roast turkey.
